Rebecca Gomez

Rebecca Gomez

Medical Podiatrist & Biomechanist

When Rebecca initially visited a podiatrist for a minor complaint, it was then that she discovered how much there was to know about feet.

After many years of gymnastics training, she had incurred injuries, which resulted in poor foot mechanics and she became

About PhysioExtra

fascinated about biomechanics. The opportunity to master Podiatric Medicine and interact and aid individuals of all walks of life on a day-to-day basis with foot ailments was her desire. This inspired her to undergo further education to manage and care for this vital part of the human body and make podiatry her profession.

Rebecca started practicing in the UK in 2001; she has successfully undergone Postgraduate training within the Biomechanics and Orthotics, Sports Injuries and Medical Electrotherapy and Cryosurgery fields. Over the last 7 years she has been undergoing surgical training and is currently about to complete her final year in the theory of Podiatric Surgery. She has also completed the minimal invasive surgery course in Barcelona. She held a 2 year post as a trainee Podiatric Surgeon at West Middlesex University Hospital and currently is a trained Podiatric Surgeon at Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital.

Rebecca is extremely passionate about all aspects of her work and enjoys caring for people. She has a very warm approach and ensures the general comfort and well-being of her patients and their foot ailments. Her education enables her to carry out a thorough assessment of the individuals health, as many diseases manifest and affect the feet.

Rebecca reminds us that our feet help us balance and can carry us 5 times around the Earth during a lifetime; in return, we rarely give them the attention they deserve, hiding them away in ill-fitting shoes and forgetting about them until they rebel.

She says that not all foot complaints are caused by corns and calluses. The human foot consists of 33 joints and 28 bones bound together by ligaments, supported by muscles and supplied with blood vessels and nerves. It is therefore subject to considerable strain and injury. Foot health begins in childhood; children’s feet must carry them for a lifetime.
